Define Billing RatesProPremium
With the introduction of our new Billing Rate feature, it's easier than ever to see the expected margin for customer projects. You can do this by adjusting a role or resource's billing rate per project in the Project Details, allowing you to immediately see the impact on that project's margins. This update helps Project Managers make more accurate predictions about the benefit of their external customer projects.
Once the new section Roles and Resources - Billing Rates has been added to your Project Details configuration, you can click a row to enter the billing rate.
Learn more about adding billing rates in the article Project Details View (General).
Changes to the Project Details
To define billing rates per project, go to Manage > Manage Project Types >Project Details, or Manage > Configure Project Details and add the section Roles and Resources - Billing Rates to your configuration.
In the section Roles and Resources - Costs and Benefits, you can find the new tab Allocation Net Value which compares Allocation Costs and Allocation Benefits per role and resource. These are the new KPIs in this section:
- Allocation Benefit EAC (per role and resource): Allocation EAC x Billing Rate
- Allocation Cost EAC: Allocation EAC x Cost per Hour
- Allocation Net Value EAC: Allocation Benefit EAC - Allocation Cost EAC
Learn more about the Project Details configuration in the article Configuring Project Details.
Changes to the Resource Pool
In the Resource Pool, you can find the new field Standard Billing Rate per Hour for both roles and resources. If applicable, enter the billing rate that a role or resource typically has.
You can import the standard billing rates for your roles and resources using the quick imports for roles and resources respectively.
If you click Apply Standard Billing Rates in the Roles and Resources - Billing Rates section in the Project Details, the billing rates from the Resource Pool will be used in the project, saving you time when entering. You can always change the billing rates when necessary.
New and Updated Financial KPIs
In the Project Details, the Project List, the Project Overview and the Board View, you can configure the following KPIs:
- Allocation Benefit EAC (per project): Sum of Allocation Benefit EAC of Assigned Roles and Resources
- Actual Allocation Benefit: Sum of Actual Time Worked x Billing Rate per Assigned Role and Resource
The following existing KPIS now consider not only financial events of the benefit type in their calculation, but also the allocation benefit:
- Planned Benefit: Planned Financial Events of the Benefit type + Planned Allocation Benefit
- Actual Benefit: Actual Financial Events of the Benefit type + Actual Allocation Benefit
- Benefit EAC: Actual Financial Events of the Benefit type + Planned Financial Events of the Benefit Type until today + Future Financial Events of the Benefit type + Actual Allocation Benefit +Planned Allocation Benefit from last booking date
