In this video we will show you the basics of how the Quick Import works, using the project import as an example:
Prerequisites
Required User Rights
For importing part-time working models as described in this article, you need to have the following rights:
- Edit Resource Pool, Absences, OBS, Calendar and Skills
- Import Data
Supported Formats
For the quick import, you can simply copy data and paste it into Meisterplan. You can therefore use all file formats in which you can copy data.
Where to Find
In the left Sidebar, click Import and Export:
Choose Type of Data and Prepare
Click Part-Time Working Models and then Start Import:
You can add new resource absences and update existing ones. The prerequisite to do this is matching Resource Keys between the resources in your document, and the resources in your Meisterplan system.
Download Example Spreadsheet
If you don't have a spreadsheet of your resources' part-time working models available, download our example spreadsheet of part-time working models. This example serves as an outline for configuring your resources' part-time working models and related data. You can also use the example spreadsheet to run a test import in your Meisterplan system.
You can delete the imported sample part-time working models at any time.
To successfully import your resources' part-time working models, your spreadsheet should contain one line per part-time working model. Make sure to have a title in each column so that you can easily assign each field to its respective field in Meisterplan.
Fields That Can Be Imported
These are the required fields that your spreadsheet must contain:
- Resource Key: Resource Key of an existing resource; used to identify a resource but cannot be used to update a ResourceKey
- Capacity in %: capacity as it has been defined in the calendar; for the correct format see here
-
Start: first day of the part-time working-model; for the correct format see here
- When this field is left blank the capacity change will be either indefinite, or since the start date of the resource's employment
-
Finish: last day of the part-time working model; for the correct format see here
- When this field is left blank the capacity change will be either indefinite or until the last day of the resource's employment
Importing Multiple Part-Time Working Models for a Single Resource
You can import multiple part-time working models for a single resource at once as long as their time-periods do not overlap with each other. When there is already a part-time working model for this resource in Meisterplan, the data you import will overwrite the data that already exists in Meisterplan.
Date and Number Formatting
In the Date and Number Formatting for Quick Imports article, you can find all details on how to format dates and numbers in your spreadsheet to ensure they are imported correctly.
Step 1: Copy & Paste
Copy the desired data from your spreadsheet and paste the data in Meisterplan (e.g., using CTRL+V). In this step, you can copy and paste different data as often as needed.
Step 2: Assign Fields
If your imported column name matches an existing field in Meisterplan, Meisterplan will assign it automatically. If you’d like to change or add a field assignment, just drag and drop the Meisterplan field to the desired location. This step ensures your spreadsheet data maps to the appropriate Meisterplan field.
If your spreadsheet contains columns that cannot be matched with Meisterplan fields, they will simply be ignored and the data from the unassigned columns will not be imported.
Step 3: Validate & Edit
Validation and Error Correction
In this step, you can validate and edit your part-time working models before import. Simply edit the highlighted field by clicking on it. Fields highlighted in dark red indicate an error that will prevent the complete line (i.e., the part-time working model) from being imported.
Once you’ve corrected all errors, click Import. Your data is now available in Meisterplan.
Update Existing Part-Time Working Models
Exact Matching of Resources
Importing new and updating existing part-time working models is only possible if the resource keys in your spreadsheet exactly match the resource keys in Meisterplan.
Updating Existing Part-Time Working Models
If your spreadsheet contains a part-time working model for the same resource on the same day as in Meisterplan, the newly imported part-time working model will overwrite the existing one. However, only the time period listed in the spreadsheet will be updated. Existing part-time working models for this resource outside this time period will remain unchanged.
