Question: What can I do if my data (projects, resources, allocations, etc.) is lost or overwritten?
Answer: There are three possible ways to recover your data:
Recovery by Scenario (Planning Only)
If you only want to undo changes to portfolio planning (timed scheduling and prioritization of projects), for example, after moving a project, and one of the scenarios in your Meisterplan system contains the correct plan, you can adopt this scenario as the plan of record. You can learn how to do this in the article Scenario Manager.
The article Global and Scenario Dependent Data will explain which planning data is scenario-dependent and can be recovered in this way.
However, key project data (project manager, financial events,...), roles, resources and OBS units created in the resource pool, as well as the system-wide configuration (project phases, custom project fields,...) cannot be recovered with this method.
Recovery from Exported Excel (Project, Allocation and Resource Data)
If you want to recover all projects including key project data (project manager, financial events,...) and allocations, as well as the roles, resources and OBS units created in the resource pool, and you or another user exported the Meisterplan data as an Excel file, you can import the data from the Excel file back into Meisterplan. You can learn how to do this in the article Excel Import and Export.
With this option, however, the system-wide configuration (project phases, custom project fields,...) cannot be recovered.
Recovery through Our Customer Success Team (not for On-Premise)
In case of data loss we can restore most of your data from the backups that are automatically created in our infrastructure and provide it to you as an Excel file. The prerequisite for this is that you have licensed Meisterplan as Software as a Service (SaaS) and do not host it in your own environment ("On-Premise").
If you are interested in purchasing this method of recovery, please contact our support team and provide the following information:
- The URL of the affected Meisterplan system (e.g. "us.meisterplan.com/my-company").
- The specific recovery time of the data desired in CET (date and time).
- The point in time when the recovery is to be carried out (during which it is not possible to work with Meisterplan).
- A written statement agreeing to the recovery of your data.
Once we receive this information, we generally provide the Excel file within one business day.
According to our Terms of Service (find US terms here and EU terms here), we will back up the data of all SaaS systems a minimum of once a calendar day for a period of 30 days.
