Learn which portfolio filters you can configure and how they affect each view.
If you are just getting started with Meisterplan, you will find all you need in the Portfolios in Meisterplan - Overview article.
Why Portfolio Filters Are So Useful
With filters, you can configure portfolios in Meisterplan to match the way you work and organize tasks in your company, for example:
- Sub-Portfolios for each business unit
- Sub-Portfolios for everyone in charge
- Appropriate views for individual meetings
This allows everyone to concentrate on what’s important to them, and you can control who can change which data.

Project Filters - Details
With the project filters of a portfolio, you determine which projects are part of a selected portfolio and which are not.
For filters with several options, a project is part of a portfolio if at least one of the selected filter options applies.
You can define any number of project filters for each portfolio. A project is part of a portfolio if each of the filters applies.
Available Filters
These filters are available:
Project Filter |
Benefit |
Logged-In User as Project Manager |
Convenient if you want a portfolio in which all project managers only have access to projects where they are set as Project Manager. The respective user must be linked to a resource. In this article you can learn how to do this. This project filter cannot be used in combination with the Project Manager project filter. |
Project Manager |
Useful if you want to focus on the projects of one or more particular project managers. This project filter cannot be used in combination with the Logged-In User as Project Manager project filter. |
Project Status |
Convenient to quickly see the status of projects, for example all projects with status “Critical”. |
Business Goal |
Helps you focus on individual business goals. |
OBS |
Create sub-portfolios for each business unit. Only OBS units to which at least one project is assigned can be selected as filters. |
Source System |
Filters projects according to the third-party solution from which they were imported into Meisterplan |
Custom project fields |
Filter your own project fields of the lookup or Boolean type. |
Note on the Logged-In User as Project Manager filter: With this filter each project manager can only access those projects where they are set as project manager. You cannot use it in combination with the Project Manager project filter, because one is a flexible filter that displays projects depending on the user, the other is a static filter that displays only the projects of the selected project manager(s).
Effect on Views
Every view in Meisterplan displays only data of the selected portfolio.
Portfolio Designer
- By default, the Project Section displays only projects that are part of the current portfolio.
- The Resource Section displays only roles and resources allocated to projects that are part of the current portfolio.
- If you click on a role or resource in the Resource Section, the Project Section displays all projects to which this role or resource is allocated, even projects that are not part of the current portfolio.
- The Financial Section includes the budgets of the selected portfolio and the costs of the projects that are part of the current portfolio.
Project List
The Project List only displays projects of the selected portfolio.
Goals
The Goal View only considers the data of projects in the current portfolio.

Resource Filters - Details
With the resource filters of a portfolio, you determine which resources are part of a portfolio and which are not.
Please note:
- With resource filters, you control not only which resource data is displayed, but also which resources can be allocated to projects.
For filters with several options, a resource is part of a portfolio if at least one of the selected options from the filter applies.
You can define any number of resource filters for each portfolio. A resource is part of a portfolio if each of the filters applies.
Available Filters
These resource filters are available:
Resource Filter |
Benefit |
OBS |
Allow access to resources of a specific business unit. |
Internal / External |

Skills |
Allow access to resources with specific skills. |

You can, however, edit all roles of a project, whether they are selected in the primary role filter or not.
