Availability All Editions
In the project details, you will find all project information relevant to your organization such as status, approved total effort or milestones. This information is organized in one or more tabs (as configured by your organization).
How to Find
You can open a project's details from the following views:
- Portfolio Designer
- Team Planner
- Project List
- BoardPro Premium
- GoalsPro Premium
- RoadmapPro Premium
- Project Overview
Move your cursor over the project and, depending on the view, click either the pencil or the square icon:
Depending on your user rights for the project, you will be able to either view, or edit, the project's details.
The allocation unit in the Project Details view is inherited from whatever setting is saved in the (custom) Portfolio Designer view.
Toolbar
In the toolbar, you can delete projects or configure the project details for all users.
Information Panel
Click one of the icons in the right sidebar to open the Information Panel. When you select a project, you can find its Change Log, Comments and Jira Details there.
Required User Rights
- To open and view a project's details, your user group does not need to have specific rights.
- Exception: To view sections with financial data, you need to have the Access Financial Data right.
- To edit the project's details, your user group needs to have the respective rights in the following sections:
- To configure the layout of the project details, your user group needs to have the Manage Project Fields, Project Settings, Project Overview, Navigation and Advanced right.
Sections
The Project Details can contain up to four configured tabs with project information for Basic Edition systems. You can configure up to nine tabs in Pro or Premium Edition systems. Additionally, you can find the non-configurable Allocations Tab there, which provides an overview of the roles and resources allocated to the project. All configurable tabs can contain the following sections.
If you do not have the rights to a project field within a section, you will not see this section. If you do not have the rights to any of the sections in a tab, you will not see the tab.
Custom Sections
You can select from the following fields:
- All project fields for which you have at least read-only rights (system fields and custom fields)
- Financial Key Indicators (e.g., Planned Benefit, Total Planned Costs), displayed in the currency set in the left Sidebar under General SettingsPro Premium
- All Actuals key figures from this listPro Premium
- Financial key figures from this list
- Top level OBS
- The program name
- Last Changed
- Project Manager
- Business Goal
- Rank Category
- Percentage of Completion
With the respective right, the number, titles and content of the custom sections can be configured. The configuration is a global setting for all users of a Meisterplan system.
To edit project details, simply click the field you'd like to edit.
Milestones
In this section, you can see and edit the milestones of your project:
The following information is available for each milestone:
- Name
- Project Phase: Project phases are managed under Manage > General Settings
- Date: The milestone date must be within the project phase, and for segmented projects the date must be within a project segment
To add a new milestone, click Add Milestone. To delete a milestone, use the trash can icon on the far right.
Additionally, you can edit milestones in the Gantt chart. See the Milestones, Project Phases and Dependencies article for more details.
Dependencies
The Dependencies section allows you to add and delete dependencies between milestones on projects.
The following information is available for each dependencies:
- Milestone: The name of the currently selected project's milestone

Dependency: The relationship between the currently selected project's milestone and the related milestone
- requires: the milestone on the selected project is the target milestone
- is required by: the milestone on the selected project is the source milestone
- Related Project: the project with the other milestone in the dependency relationship
- Related Milestone: the name of the other milestone in the dependency relationship
To add a new dependency, select Add Dependency. To delete a dependency, use the trash can icon on the far right. Additionally, you can edit dependencies in the Portfolio Designer's Gantt chart. See the Milestones, Project Phases and Dependencies article for more details.
The project filter of the portfolio does not limit the displayed projects; this means that you can select dependencies between milestones of the selected project and other projects that are not in the current portfolio. In other terms, when you want to add a milestone dependency, all projects from the current scenario will be displayed in the dropdown list of the column Related Project.
Project ScorePro Premium
This section contains the following information on the project score:
- Rank: The project's current rank in the Portfolio Designer (depends on the currently selected scenario and portfolio)
- Project Score: The project's score, composed of the values of fields that make up the project score
- Rank by Project Score: The project's rank in relation to all other projects. This may, but may not be, the same as the project's current rank.
- Move Project to Rank...: Click this button to move the project to its rank based on its project score. If the project already has that rank, the button will be disabled.
- Composition of Project Score: A detailed list of all fields and values that make up the project score

Roles and Resources - Allocations
This section displays all resources and roles that have been assigned to the project with their allocations and Actual Time Worked. You can compare the allocations per resource with the Approved Total Effort and Actual Time Worked. There are two tabs, Estimate at Completion and Plan vs Actual:
Estimate at Completion:
- Role or Resource: Name of role or resource allocated to this project
- Estimate at CompletionPro Premium: Sum of Actual Time Worked + Allocations until Today and Future Allocations
- Planned Allocations: Sum of all allocations for this project in Meisterplan per role and resource
- Actual Time Worked + Allocations until TodayPro Premium: Actual Time Worked plus planned allocations from the last booking date until today
- Past Allocations: Allocations for this project in Meisterplan from the start of the project until today
- Future Allocations: Allocations for this project in Meisterplan from today until the end of the project
Plan vs ActualPro Premium:
- Planned Allocations: Sum of allocations for the role or resource to this project
- Planned Allocations until [last booking date]: Allocations for this role or resource and project in Meisterplan until today
- Actual Time Worked until [last booking date]: Sum of imported Actual Time Worked for this project until and including the date mentioned
- Deviation of Actual Time Worked from Planned Allocations: The difference between Actual Time Worked and Planned Allocations, with a positive number indicating that the Actual Time Worked is higher than the Planned Allocations

Allocation Tracker
In this section, you can compare the project's allocations with the Approved Total Effort and Actual Time Worked. There are two tabs, Estimate at Completion and Plan vs Actual:
Estimate at Completion:
- Approved Total Effort: The approved effort as entered into the project field of the same name
- Allocation Estimate at Completion (EAC)Pro Premium: The sum of Actual Time Worked + Allocations until Today and the Future Allocations
- Planned Allocations: Sum of all allocations for this project in Meisterplan per role and resource
- Past Allocations: Allocations for this project in Meisterplan from the start of the project until today
- Future Allocations: Allocations for this project in Meisterplan from today until the end of the project
- Actual Time Worked + Allocations until TodayPro Premium: Actual Time Worked plus planned allocations from the last booking date until today
- Deviation of EAC from Approved Total EffortPro Premium: The difference between the Allocation Estimate at Completion and the Approved Total Effort, with a positive number indicating that the EAC is higher than the Approved Total Effort
- Deviation of EAC from Planned Allocation Total: The difference between the Allocation Estimate at Completion and the Allocation Total, with a positive number indicating that the EAC is higher than the Allocation Total
- Deviation of Planned Allocations Total from Approved Total Effort: The difference between the Planned Allocations Total and the Approved Total Effort displayed in time unit or percent, with a positive number indicating that the Planned Allocations Total is higher than the Approved Total Effort
Plan vs. ActualPro Premium:
- Planned Allocations until [last booking date]: The sum of allocations in Meisterplan for this project until and including the date mentioned
- Actual Time Worked until [last booking date]: The sum of imported Actual Time Worked for this project until and including the date mentioned
- Deviation of Actual Time Worked from Planned Allocations: The difference between Actual Time Worked and Planned Allocations, with a positive number indicating that the Actual Time Worked is higher than the Planned Allocations

Roles and Resources - Billing RatesProPremium
In this section, you can define billing rates for roles and resources. These are taken into account when calculating the allocation benefit and the total benefit.
In the section's toolbar, click Apply Standard Billing Rates to apply the standard billing rates entered in in the Resource Pool to each role and resource. This will overwrite all previously entered billing rates in the project. You can always change the billing rates.
- Role or Resource: Name of the role or resource allocated to that project; for each resource, their primary role is also displayed as a separate entry.
- Billing Rate per Hour: Enter the billing rate. When you enter a billing rate for a role, it is automatically applied to to all resources with this primary role. Applied billing rates will be displayed in gray.
- Allocation EAC: The sum of Actual Time Worked + Allocations until Today and the Future Allocations
- Allocation Benefit EAC: Allocation EAC x Billing Rate
Roles and Resources - Costs and BenefitsProPremium
In this section, you can see the Costs per role and resource for the respective project. You can compare the planned allocation costs per resource with the actual allocation costs. There are three tabs, Estimate at Completion, Plan vs Actual and Allocation Net Value.
Estimate at Completion:
- Role or Resource: Name of the role or resource allocated to that project
- Estimate at Completion: Sum of actual allocation costs + allocation costs and the remaining allocation costs from today on
- Future Allocation Costs: Allocation costs for this role or resource from today on
Plan vs Actual:
- Role or Resource: Name of the role or resource allocated to that project
- Planned Allocation Costs until 'Last Booking Date': Sum of planned allocation costs for the role or resource until and including the date mentioned
- Actual Allocation Costs until 'Last Booking Date': Sum of actual allocation costs for the role or resource until and including the date mentioned
- Deviation of Actual Allocation Costs from Planned: The difference between actual allocation costs and planned allocation costs for the role or resource displayed in time unit or percent, with a positive number indicating that the actual allocation costs are higher than the planned allocation costs
Allocation Net Value:
- Role or Resource: Name of the role or resource allocated to that project<></>
- Allocation Benefit EAC: Allocation EAC x Billing Rate
- Allocation Cost EAC: Allocation EAC x Cost per Hour </>
- Allocation Net Value EAC: Allocation Benefit EAC - Allocation Cost EAC
Financial TrackerPro Premium
In this section, you can compare the sum of planned and actual costs until the last booking date. There are two tabs, Estimate at Completion and Plan vs Actual
Estimate at Completion:
- Approved Budget: The project budget entered in the Approved Budget field

Cost Estimate at Completion:
- If actual time worked has been imported for this project, then it is the sum of future financial events costs, future allocation costs, past financial events costs and actual allocation costs + allocation costs until today
- If no actual time worked has been imported for this project, then it is the sum of allocation costs and financial events costs
- Future Financial Events Costs: Financial events costs planned for the future
- Future Allocation Costs: Allocation costs planned for the future
- Actual Financial Events Costs +Financial Events Costs until Today: Sum of financial events costs actually incurred, calculated from the imported financial events worked plus planned financial events costs from the last booking date until today
- Actual Allocation Costs + Allocation Costs until Today: Sum of allocation costs actually incurred, calculated from the imported actual time worked plus planned allocation costs from the last booking date until today
- Deviation of Cost EAC from Approved Budget: The difference between the Cost Estimate at Completion and the approved budget displayed in time unit or percent, with a positive number indicating that the cost EAC is higher than the approved budget
- Deviation of Planned Costs from Approved Budget: The difference between the planned costs and the approved budget displayed in time unit or percent, with a positive number indicating that the planned costs are higher than the approved budget
Plan vs Actual:
- Planned Allocation Costs until 'Last Booking Date': Sum of planned allocation costs until and including the date mentioned
- Planned Financial Events Costs until 'Last Booking Date': Sum of planned financial events costs until and including the date mentioned
- Actual Allocation Costs until 'Last Booking Date': Sum of actual allocation costs until and including the date mentioned
- Actual Financial Events Costs until 'Last Booking Date': Sum of actual financial events costs until and including the date mentioned
- Deviation of Actual Costs from Planned: The difference between actual and planned costs displayed in currency and percent, with a positive number indicating that the actual costs are higher than the planned costs
Cost Type TrackerPro Premium
In this section, you can compare the sum of planned and actual costs until the last booking date with the approved CapEx and OpEx budgets. The costs are divided by CapEx and OpEx and consist of allocation costs and financial events costs. There are two tabs, Estimate at Completion and Plan vs Actual.
Estimate at Completion:
- Approved CapEx Budget: The project budget entered in the Approved CapEx Budget field
- Approved OpEx Budget: The project budget entered in the Approved OpEx Budget field
- Cost Estimate at Completion: Sum of future costs and and actual costs + costs until today, for CapEx and OpEx each
- Deviation of Cost EAC from Planned Costs: The difference between the planned costs and the approved CapEx or OpEx budget displayed in time unit or percent, with a positive number indicating that the planned costs are higher than the approved budget
- Deviation of Cost EAC from Approved (CapEx or OpEx) Budget: The difference between the Cost Estimate at Completion and the approved CapEx or OpEx budget displayed in time unit or percent, with a positive number indicating that the cost EAC is higher than the approved budget
- Deviation of Planned Costs from Approved (CapEx or OpEx) Budget: The difference between the planned costs and the approved CapEx or OpEx budget displayed in time unit or percent, with a positive number indicating that the planned costs are higher than the approved budget
- Future: Sum of allocation costs and financial events costs planned as CapEx
- Past: Sum of actual allocation costs + allocation cost until today and financial events costs planned as CapEx
- Actual Allocation Costs + Allocations Costs until Today: Sum of actual allocation costs calculated by import of Actuals - Time Worked and the planned allocation costs between the last booking date and today
- Actual Financial Events Costs + Financial Events Costs until Today: Sum of actual financial events costs calculated by import of actual financial events and the planned financial events costs between the last booking date and today
- Total Planned Costs: Sum of planned allocation costs and planned financial events costs

FinancialsPro Premium
In this section, you can manage the financial events of your project. There are two tabs, Plan and Actual.
Plan
The following information is available for each planned financial event:
- Type: OpEx (Operational Expenditure), CapEx (Capital Expenditure) or Benefit (default)
- Category: Finance categories are managed under Manage > General Settings
- Timing: Define when the event occurs: at the Project Start, the Project Finish (default), any milestone or on a specific date
- Due Date: You can enter a specific date if you have selected Custom Date under Timing. This date can also be set after a project's finish date. If you select a milestone or the project's start or finish date, the date of the selected timing is automatically entered
- Amount: If you do not specify an amount, or delete an existing one, this field will be automatically set to 0.00
- Description
To add a new financial event, click Add Financial Event. To change or delete an event, use the appropriate icon on the far right.
Actual
The following information is available for each actual financial event:
- Type: OpEx (Operational Expenditure), CapEx (Capital Expenditure) or Benefit (default)
- Category: Finance categories are managed under Manage > Advanced
- Booking Date: Due date of the actual financial event
- Amount: If you do not specify an amount, or delete an existing one, this field will be automatically set to 0.00
- Description
To add a new actual financial event, click Add Financial Event. To change or delete an event, use the appropriate icon on the far right.
