Updated Staffing and Replacing OptionsAll Editions
We are excited to inform you of new changes to the Portfolio Designer. You can now staff roles in the same easy-to-use overview as the Team Planner, as well as quickly replace roles and resources without ever leaving the view. This way, depending on your organizational role, resource management can be taken care of in the Team Planner or Portfolio Designer without needing to switch between views.
Staffing Roles in the Portfolio Designer
To staff a role in the Portfolio Designer, simply select the three dots after the role's name and click Staff Role.
You will then be taken to Staff Role mode which you already know from the Team Planner.
The resources are then displayed based on their availability. You can allocate all of a resource's available capacity, or strategically allocate over multiple resources.
Learn more about this view in the article Staff Role.

With this release, we have adjusted the ways you can replace resources and roles as well as unstaff resources on projects in the Portfolio Designer, the Project Details and the Team Planner. To perform the following actions:

You can replace the entire allocation, only the overallocation or a percentage of the original allocation.
Additionally, hovering over another resource will demonstrate to you how replacing the selected resource's allocation with this other resource will affect the selected resource's capacity.
Find details on how the capacity in this dialogue is calculated in the article Calculating Availability When Assigning and Replacing Roles and Resources.
Unstaff to Role
To unstaff a resource's entire allocation back to the role, click the three dots after the name of the resource, select Replace Resource and then click Unstaff to Role:
Unstaff Overallocation to Role
To unstaff only the overallocation back to the role, click the three dots after the name of the resource and select Replace Resource. Then, select Overallocation at the top and click Unstaff to Role:

Further Changes
With this release, we have also included the following improvements:
- The user right Resource Managers Can Always Edit Allocations of Their Own Roles and Resources under Project and Program Rights will immediately also take effect in the Portfolio Designer. This means that users with only this right will be able to edit their roles and resources in the Portfolio Designer, even when they do not have the Edit Allocations right enabled in Detailed Project and Program Rights.
- When you select Staff Role in the Team Planner, the displayed resources are sorted according to their availability. Additionally, all values and capacities of resources are now also displayed in FTEs when you staff a role.
- In the Allocations Tab of the Project Details, when you select Assign Role or Resource a dialogue similar to the dialogue that appears when you replace a role or resource. The resources are sorted alphabetically, and the available capacity of the resource or role during the project is displayed.
