With Planning Intervals, you can define your own planning cycles and display them directly in the timelines of the new Portfolio Designer, the Roadmap, and the Task Timeline. This helps you understand which topics fall into which interval and plan your work more effectively.
General
Required User Rights
- To add, edit, and delete planning intervals, your user group needs the Planning Intervals right under System Administration > System Configuration.
How To Find
Open the left sidebar and click Manage > Planning Intervals.
In this view, you can see all planning intervals in your Meisterplan system. The cards are sorted alphabetically by the names of the planning intervals.
Each card shows a preview of the respective time segments of the planning interval (if configured), allowing you to immediately recognize its time span.
To add any missing information to the cards, click the card or the square icon next to the name of the planning interval and open the details view to fill in the fields.
Planning Intervals are Global
Planning Intervals are global and therefore the same across all scenarios.
Configure Planning Intervals
You can configure up to three planning intervals with the Pro Edition and up to 10 planning intervals with the Premium Edition.
Adding Planning Intervals
To add a new planning interval, click Add Planning Interval in the toolbar:
Details View
The detail view opens, where you can enter a name for the planning interval and add additional information:
General
- Name: Required field; the name of the planning interval is always displayed.
Time Segments
In the Time Segments section, define the periods for the planning interval.
You can switch between the All and Current & Future mode; Current & Future displays only the time segments that start today or lie in the future.
Adding a Time Segment
To add a single time segment, click Add > One Time Segment.
- Name: Required field; the name of the time segment is always displayed.
- Start and End: Set the start and end date of the time segment; time segments within a planning interval must not overlap. The duration must be between one week and one year.
- Color: Select the color that will be used to visually represent the time segment.
Adding Multiple Time Segments at Once
To create several time segments in one step, click Add > Multiple Time Segments.
- Number of Repetitions: Specify how many times the period should be repeated. You can create up to 30 time segments at once.
- Duration per Time Segment (in Days): Specify how long each time segment should be in days; the duration must be between one week and one year.
- Start Date of First Time Segment: Select the start date for the first time segment in the series; Meisterplan will then automatically generate all subsequent time segments. If time segments already exist in the planning interval, new segments can only be added if their start date is after the end date of the last existing segment.
Then, click Add to generate the time segments according to your settings. We recommend naming the time segments manually afterwards, as Meisterplan does not assign default names automatically.
Meisterplan assigns each segment a color from a predefined set of ten distinct colors. If you create more than ten segments, the color sequence starts again.
The table is automatically sorted by start date so that the most recent periods appear first.
Delete a Time Segment
To delete a time segment, hover your mouse over the entry and click the trash can icon at the end of the row.
Overview
The Overview section displays a preview of the planning interval, allowing you to see its time span at a glance. The view corresponds to the preview shown on the previous page.
