Enable the Extended Integration Hub to allow your users to connect their project and task management tools easily out of the box, import projects and keep their data in Meisterplan up to date.
General
The Extended Integration Hub is the basis for connecting project and task management tools with Meisterplan out of the box. It allows you to easily import projects as well as task data, such as effort and assignees, and synchronize it with projects in Meisterplan. This ensures you have all relevant planning data in one place.
Currently, the following project and task management tools are supported, with more being added in the coming weeks:
In the left sidebar, go to Integrations > Connected Tools > Project & Task Management Tools to see an overview of the tools that are currently connected to your Meisterplan system through either the Extended Integration Hub, Jira, or Task API.
Prerequisites
- The Extended Integration Hub under Integrations > Connected Tools > General Settings is enabled.
- An Automation User is set.
Required User Rights
- To enable or disable the Extended Integration Hub, your user group must have the Enable Extended Integration Hub right under Manage > User Groups > Integrations > Connected Tools > Extendend Integration Hub. Users do not need this user right to connect tools or import projects via the Extended Integration Hub.
- Under Manage > User Groups > Integrations > Connected Tools > Project & Task Management Tools, your user group needs:
- the Use right to import or link projects, and view their task details, from a tool already connected via the Extended Integration Hub.
- The Configure right to connect project and task management tools via the Extended Integrations Hub, as well as import or link projects, and view their task details.
Automation User
An Automation User is required for automated imports and updates from connected tools into Meisterplan. This is a Meisterplan user that has the necessary user rights. This user's rights configuration will apply to all connected tools listed in the Project & Task Management Tools tab. Additionally, all updates are recorded under the Automation User's name in the Change Log.
The first user to link a tool via the Extended Integration Hub is automatically set as the Automation User.
We recommend creating a dedicated Meisterplan user account for this purpose under Manage > Users, and assigning them to a user group with the required user rights:
- To import data, the Automation User must have the Import Data right under Manage > User Groups > Integrations.
- To update project data, the Automation User must have the appropriate right under Manage > User Groups > Project & Resource Planning > Projects (e.g., Milestones, Actuals).
- To assign themselves as Automation User, the user must have the Configure right under Manage > User Groups > Integrations > Connected Tools > Project & Task Management Tools.
Next, log in with this user's credentials and under Integrations > Connected Tools > General Settings > Automation User, click Assign Logged-In User:
Extended Integration Hub
Under Integrations > Connected Tools > General Settings > Extended Integration Hub, you can enable or disable the Extended Integration Hub if you have the required user right.
When disabling the Extended Integration Hub, all links to tools and projects will be deleted. Projects and resources imported through the Extended Integration Hub will not be deleted, nor will the data in the project or task management tool.
Tasks and their efforts will no longer be displayed in the Information Panel, the Task Timeline, or related system fields.
For example, if you have imported a project "Product Communication" from Asana with two new resources, 5 tasks, and a summed effort of 10 hours per resource, after deleting the Asana link, the project, the resources, and the allocation will still be there, but in the Information Panel or the Task Timeline, you will no longer see the tasks with their individual effort and assignees.
Project and Task Management Tools
In this tab, you can find an overview of all existing links to project and task management tools.
If you hover over a row and click the trash can icon at the end of the row, you will delete the link to the external tool. Neither the project data in Meisterplan nor the data in the external tool will be deleted, but you can no longer view task data from the external tool in Meisterplan in the Infroamtion Panel, the Task Timeline, , or related system fields.
Configure the Deviation Threshold
Meisterplan can compare remaining effort from the connected tool with future allocations in Meisterplan for each resource, team, or role on a project. When there are more allocations in the connected tool than in Meisterplan for at least one resource, team, or role, the project is marked as Outside Allocation Threshold.
Not every deviation is critical, however. Especially in larger projects, a difference of a few days may not matter and can change again when the project progresses.
To focus only on relevant projects, you can configure the percentage of deviation so that only projects with a significant enough deviation will be defined as Outside Allocation Threshold in fields, filters, and color schemes.
In the left sidebar, click Integrations and select Connected Tools > Project & Task Management Tools. Under Configure Deviation Threshold, enter the threshold for the allocation deviation in %:
When you configure the threshold, only deviations that are equal to or higher than the percentage will be marked as Outside Allocation Threshold in fields, filters, and color schemes.
Find out where you can see a comparison between tool effort and Meisterplan allocations in the article Comparing Asana Effort in Different Views.
