Plan with Teams in MeisterplanAll Editions
We are happy to introduce you to Meisterplan Teams! You can now work with teams in Meisterplan in addition to roles and resources. With teams, you can build a group of resources that work together on projects without having to allocate work to individual people. This simplifies the planning process for resource managers, whether your organization works traditional, hybrid, or agile.
To get started, open the Resource Pool. In the Teams tab, configure the teams you need with relevant details.
When assigning team members, you can define how long they are part of the team and how much of their capacity is reserved for the team. The sum of these individual capacities is the available capacity of the team. The capacity assigned to the team is deducted from the capacity of each resource. This applies even if the team is not allocated to any project.
Find more details on configuring teams in the article Resource Pool - Teams.
Using Teams in Meisterplan
Teams work very much like resources in Meisterplan: You can assign them to projects, enter and update allocations manually or through quick imports, and receive notifications for allocation comments for your teams if your are their resource manager.
Capacity and overallocation of a team is displayed just like resources (e.g., in the Team Planner), and they have properties such as OBS, skills or a resource manager that can be used for filtering. When staffing a role, you will now be able to select a team instead of, or in addition to, a resource.
You can also enter actual time worked for a team, either manually in the Project Details and under My Schedule, or via our Quick Import: Actual Time Worked, but you need to specify which resource on the team this actual time worked should be assigned to.
Additionally, you can analyze capacity, allocations and actuals for teams via the Reporting API and integrated reports.
Teams vs. Roles
In the past, roles were sometimes used to represent teams. With this feature, it is now possible to make a clear distinction between both and set up straightforward processes for planning.
