Scenario Manager Features
The scenario manager provides the following features:
Replace Plan of Record with Scenario
Add a Scenario
Click Add Scenario to create a scenario based on the Plan of Record.
- When creating a scenario, you will be prompted to enter a Scenario Name and Edit Rights.
- The person creating the scenario is assigned edit rights by default.
- Assign editing rights to any other users that should also be permitted to modify data in the new scenario.
- Editing rights and other scenario properties may be modified by users with either the According to Configured Scenario Rights or the All Scenarios right.
Copy a Scenario
Click Copy Scenario to create a scenario based on the selected scenario.
- The newly created copy will be shown with the note (duplicated) on the side. This will not affect your original version of the scenario.
- The person copying the scenario is assigned edit rights by default.
- The person copying the scenario does not need to have edit rights for the original scenario in order to copy it.
Freeze a Scenario
Access to this feature requires ownership of the scenario, the According to Configured Scenario Rights, or the All Scenarios right.
Click Freeze to remove all editing rights from the selected scenario. Frozen scenarios can no longer be edited by any user until editing rights are reassigned.
Unfreeze a Scenario
To unfreeze a scenario, reassign editing rights to it via its properties. This makes it editable again. See the Edit Scenario article for details.
Replace Plan of Record with Scenario
Access to this feature requires the Replace Plan of Record with Scenario right in combination with either the According to Configured Scenario Rights or the All Scenarios right.
Click Replace Plan of Record with Scenario to submit the selected scenario as the new plan of record.
- The entire plan of record will be replaced with the selected scenario, including all portfolios.
- The selected scenario remains and can be used for further planning; changes made in the plan of record will not be transferred to this scenario.
NOTE: The current plan of record is not automatically saved before being replaced by the scenario. To save the plan of record beforehand, simply create a new scenario as a backup.
Instead of transferring the entire scenario, you can transfer individual projects from the scenario to the plan of record. To do this, move your cursor over the project name in the list, click on the icon with the three dots, and select the option Submit Project to Plan of Record.
Hide a Scenario
Hide Scenario: In the View menu, select whether to display all scenarios (Show all), or only those that have not been archived via the Archived option (Hide archived).
Configure a Scenario
Access to this feature requires ownership, the According to Configured Scenario Rights, or the All Scenarios right.
Configure Scenario: Hover over a scenario and click on the pen icon to configure that scenario. See the Configure Scenario article for details.
Delete a Scenario
Access to this feature requires ownership, the According to Configured Scenario Rights, or the All Scenarios right.
Delete Scenario: Hover over a scenario and click on the garbage can icon to delete that scenario.
Archive a Scenario
Archive Scenario: Set a scenario as Archived if it is no longer an active scenario but you would still like to keep it. Archived scenarios can no longer be opened and will no longer be available in the scenario menu or for reporting. They will be displayed in gray in the scenario manager and can be hidden by selecting Hide archived in the View menu.
Hover over a scenario and click on the pen icon to open up the Configure Scenario window. Underneath the Edit Rights window, click on the box to set the scenario to Archived. Select OK to confirm your selection.
Open or Close a Scenario
Double-click or select a scenario and click Open Scenario to close the scenario manager and open that scenario.
Click End Scenario Mode to close the scenario manager, end the scenario mode and any active scenario comparison, and work with the plan of record again.
Once you have selected a scenario in the scenario manager, it will then be available for selection in the scenario menu in the header. When a scenario is active, you may also select the Plan of Record in the scenario menu to end the scenario mode.
Start or End the Scenario Comparison
Select an active scenario and a comparison scenario or the plan of record and click Open Scenario to close the scenario manager and activate the scenario comparison.
Select None and click Open Scenario to close the scenario manager and end the scenario comparison.
While the scenario comparison is active, you have access to the scenario comparison menu in the header. Here, you may select one of the five most recently compared scenarios, open the scenario manager via Manage Scenarios, or end the scenario comparison.
When the scenario comparison is not active, you can open the scenario manager by selecting Manage Scenarios in the scenario menu to start the scenario comparison.
See the Scenario Comparison article for details.
