Tableau has announced that they will discontinue support for connectors in 2025. There are currently no alternatives from Tableau. The Meisterplan connector for Tableau will only work until Tableau discontinues the connectors.

Connect Tableau with Meisterplan and prepare your reports to match your company's standards.
Prerequisites
Ensure that the following prerequisites are met to access Meisterplan data with Tableau:
- Create an API token in your Meisterplan user profile and save it to a secure location.
- Install Tableau Desktop (version 2019.4 or higher) on your computer, in order to configure your reports.
- Register with Tableau Online so you can upload your reports to the cloud and access them from anywhere.
Creating Reports in Tableau Desktop
To connect your Meisterplan data with Tableau Desktop, you need the Meisterplan Tableau Connector. This Web Data Connector allows you to easily load your data in Tableau so you can analyze and create reports from the data.
Use our report template to present your project portfolio as a bubble chart with only a few clicks, and customize it if necessary. Alternatively, load your Meisterplan data without the template and create personalized reports.
Tableau Connector and On Premise
The Meisterplan Tableau Connector cannot be used with On Premise systems.
Report Templates for Tableau
Get started fast by using our report templates for Tableau. You can later customize the report parameters to suit your individual needs. You can also find these templates in Meisterplan in the left sidebar under Integrations.

The templates contains sample data. To update them with your own data, simply follow these steps:
- Open your report in Tableau Desktop and either click Data Source in the bottom left or select Data > Meisterplan Tableau Connector > Edit Data Source...:

In the new window, enter the API token from your Meisterplan system and select the region your server is located in:
You can find the region at the beginning of your Meisterplan system's URL. It's the first two letters after "https://". Click Continue to execute the query. - Now edit the connection settings under Connections on the left. Click tableau.meisterplan.com and select Edit Connection...:
The same authentication window as in 2. opens. You can either change your API token or simply click Continue. - Under Settings, define which data you want to load and then click Apply to execute the query:
- Your Meisterplan data is now available in Tableau and you can edit the filters or parameters of the template, e.g., to display your own scenario. Select either the Matrix or Table sheet and change the scenario name or other details:

Connecting Without Report Template
To prepare reports without our template, use the Meisterplan Tableau Connector. Simply follow the steps below to learn how to load your Meisterplan data in Tableau:
- In Tableau Desktop, in the Connect column on the left under To a Server, click on More... and then select Web Data Connector:
- In the new window, enter the following URL and press the Enter key:
https://tableau.meisterplan.com - Enter the API token from your Meisterplan system and select the region your server is located in:
You can find the region at the beginning of your Meisterplan system's URL (the first two letters after "https://"). Click Continue to execute the query. - In the next step, define which data you want to load:
Click Apply to execute the query.
On the left under Table you can see your Meisterplan data. Drag and drop the tables you need to the center of the screen. Double-click the orange connecting line to edit the relationships for your report requirements:

Sharing Reports With Others
Publishing Reports With Tableau Online
To make your reports available in Tableau Online, follow these steps:
- Open your report in Tableau Desktop, click Server in the menu bar and select Publish Data Source. In the new window, enter the connection details of your online account and click Publish.
- Click Server again and select Publish Workbook. Enter your connection details once more if required and click Publish.
Configuring Automatic Refresh
To refresh your Tableau Online reports automatically, you need to install Tableau Bridge on your computer. Install the latest version and configure the data source. The API token is your password, and you can leave the user name empty.

Publishing Reports With Tableau Server
To make your reports available on the Tableau server, follow these steps:
- First, you need to whitelist the Meisterplan Tableau Connector on your server. Find more information about whitelisting here.
Download the following configuration file:
meisterplan_tableau.json
and save it to your server. - Execute the following command on your Tableau server:
"> tsm settings import -f Meisterplan Tableau-Konnektor.json"
Apply the changed settings by executing the following command:
"> tsm pending-changes apply" - Open your report in Tableau Desktop, click Server in the menu bar and select Publish Data Source. In the new window, enter the connection details of your Tableau server and click Publish.
- Click Server again and select Publish Workbook. Enter your connection details once more if required and click Publish.
