Required User Rights
All users can see project phases in projects that they can access. To add, edit, or delete project phases on milestones, your user group must have the following rights:
- Under Detailed Project and Program Rights, the Add, Change and Delete Milestones and Milestone Dependencies right
- To edit milestones and their project phases in the Plan of Record, you need to have the Edit Plan of Record right; to edit them in a scenario, you need to have the edit rights for the respective scenario
- To manage project phases, users need to have the Manage Project Fields, Project Types/Project Configuration, Navigation and Advanced right

In the left sidebar, click Manage and select Advanced:

Adding Project Phases to Projects
Project phases are always connected to a milestone. To add a project phase to a project, add a milestone or edit an existing milestone. Open the milestone details and select the project phase.
You can edit milestones and their project phases in the Portfolio Designer or the Project Details.

Extending or Shortening Project Phases
When your plans change and you need to update your projects, you can easily extend or shorten project phases in the Portfolio Designer.

Displaying Project Phases
You can display project phases in the following views:
- Portfolio Designer
- Roadmap
In the Portfolio Designer, select Settings in the toolbar. Then, under Projects,select the Project Phases color scheme. In the Roadmap, click Configure Roadmap and select Project Phase in the dropdown menu.
To display a guide to these colors in each relevant view, click the palette icon in the Information Panel.
Filtering Project Phases
You can filter projects by project phase in the following views:
- Roadmap
- Portfolio Dashboard (Milestone List only)
Click the filter icon and select Project Phase:
You will see all projects that have the selected phase configured.
