Availability All Editions
Configure your own "Add Project" form to prompt users to fill out the most pressing information about a specific project.
Required User Rights
To add or change the "Add Project" form, your user group needs to have the Manage Project Fields, Project Types, Navigation and Advanced right.
You must have edit rights for the configured, required fields. If you do not, you will not be able to add the desired project via the form.
Where to Find
You can change a project type's "Add Project" form under Manage > Project Types (or, Manage > Project Information if you have the Basic edition).
The new form will appear for any user in your system upon adding a project of that type.
How to Configure
All of the fields that you add must be editable project fields (i.e., you cannot add a system-generated KPI).
We recommend only configuring no more than what is truly required.
However, if need be, you can configure up to 100 project fields.
Optional vs. Required Fields
When adding project fields to the "Add Project" form, you can specify if these fields should be optional or required.
When you first add a project field, it will automatically be optional. You can drag and drop these fields into the required section.
The fields Start and Finish and Name are always required fields. Therefore, these fields are always included in an "Add Project" form by default.
NOTE: These fields are only required when manually adding a project. They will not be shown as required when using the Quick Import or the REST API.
Effects from Portfolio Filters
When in a portfolio with one or more portfolio filters, the "Add Project" form will take these filters into account.
For example, if you add a project in a portfolio filtered for "Stage Gate > Seeking Approval", if the relevant "Add Project" form has the field "Stage Gate" configured, it will automatically be prefilled with the value "Seeking Approval" in the form. You can, of course, change this value as needed.
If you manually add a project with a value that does not match the portfolio filter (for example, because you have changed the value on the form to “Idea”), the newly added project will not be displayed because it has values that are not filtered for in said portfolio. As soon as you select a portfolio with the appropriate filter, you will be able to see it.
