How to Find
You need to have the Edit Resource Pool, Absences, OBS, Calendar and Skills right to access this function.
In the left Sidebar, click Manage and select Calendars & Working Hours: --> FIX
The list view displays all calendars. The calendar that is currently set as default calendar has (Default) added after its name.
Derived Calendars
You can create subordinate calendars that “inherit” the working hours and calendar holidays from their source calendar. In a derived calendar, you can edit the full-time working hours and the working hours in holidays, but you cannot delete holidays or change their date. It is possible to add additional holidays in derived calendars, like when certain locations have extra holidays based on their state or city.
If a resource has different working hours, e.g., a part-time contract, you can enter the actual working hours in the resource's detail view under Part-Time Working Model. Learn more in the Resource Pool - Resources article.
Default Calendar
The calendar in your Meisterplan system that is set as default calendar defines the full-time working hours which are the basis for calculating the FTE. New resources will be assigned to this calendar unless another calendar is specified for those resources.
You can set any calendar as the default calendar by moving your cursor over the entry in the calendar list and clicking the three dots at the end of the line, then selecting Set as default calendar.
Adding Calendars
To add a new calendar that is not derived from another calendar, click Add Calendar in the toolbar. To add a derived calendar, move your cursor over the desired source calendar and click the plus icon at the end of the line.
Editing Calendars
To open and edit a calendar’s detail view, move your cursor over the calendar's entry in the list view and click the pencil icon at the end of the line:
Full-Time Working Hours
Enter the working hours for each day by clicking the respective field.
Initially, derived calendars inherit the working hours of their source calendar, but you can edit them in the derived calendar. Later changes of working hours in a source calendar will not be transferred to its derived calendars, regardless of whether the working hours have been edited or not.
Public Holidays
Under Public Holidays, you can add exceptions to the full-time working hours (for example, public holidays, company holidays) and edit them. Click Add Holiday to add a new calendar exception:
To edit or delete a holiday, move your cursor over the entry and click the pencil or trashcan icon at the end of the line.
Holidays vs. Full-Time Working Hours
A holiday may increase the number of working hours on a day if it coincides with a day with fewer working hours (e.g., 4 instead of 0 hours on a Saturday or Sunday). This will also raise the capacities of all resources using this calendar on that day.
To bulk import all public holidays of a country or region, click Import Public Holidays:
If the selected country has varying holidays depending on the region, you can select between importing the holidays of a specific region or country-wide holidays. Existing holidays will never be overwritten by the import.
You can always edit holidays, including imported holidays, and change the name, working hours or date, or even delete the entire entry.
The following characteristics apply to derived calendar exceptions:
- Derived holidays CANNOT be deleted.
- The date CANNOT be changed.
- The working hours and the description CAN be changed.
- All inherited holidays of a derived calendar that have not been changed will automatically be updated when they are changed in the source calendar. As soon as a holiday in a derived calendar is changed, it will no longer be updated with the holidays in the source calendar.
- When you delete a holiday that was changed in a derived calendar, the holiday will remain in the derived calendar. You can then change its date or delete the holidays.
Deleting Calendars
You can delete a calendar by moving your cursor over the entry in the list view and clicking the trash can icon at the end of the line. This will also delete all derived calendars. Note: you cannot delete the default calendar or the source calendar of the default calendar.
All resources that were previously assigned to the deleted calendar will be automatically assigned to the default calendar.
