Question: After leaving Meisterplan open in the background for some time, I get a session timeout or connection error after a while. I increased our session timeout, but it hasn't changed anything. How can I avoid this?
Answer: Browsers such as Google Chrome place inactive/background tabs into a “freeze” state to save resources. While a Meisterplan tab is frozen, background token refresh is paused. When you return to the tab, the session token may have already expired, which triggers the timeout or reconnect message even if the session timeout you configured in the system has not yet expired.
Solution:
- In Google Chrome, open Settings > Performance.
- Under General, find the option Always keep these sites active.
- Click Add and enter your Meisterplan URL (e.g., https://us.meisterplan.com/MySystem).
- If you use a region- or tenant-specific URL, add that exact domain. If you work with multiple environments (e.g., production and test), add each domain to the exclusion list.
