Availability All Editions
This discontinuation applies only to Meisterplan systems created before March 2020.
As a first step towards improving our integrated reporting, all remaining pivot reports of the already deprecated “Allocations”, Projects” and “Capacities” types have been converted to the newer “Projects, Allocations and Capacities” type. After a transition period, the deprecated reports have been removed from all systems on April 12th, 2022.
Find all details below.
What Has Been Discontinued
The outdated reports were only available in Meisterplan systems created before March 2020. Systems created later than that only include pivot reports of the current “Projects, Allocations and Capacities” and “Financials” types.
In the left Sidebar under Reports, you can no longer find pivot reports of the “Allocations”, “Projects” or “Capacities” type:
Under Add Report, the old report types are no longer available:
All existing reports of the old types have been converted to the current “Projects, Allocations and Capacities” type.
What Is the Discontinuation Timeline
The discontinuation took place in two steps that allow you to ensure no relevant reports in your system are lost while requiring you to invest as little effort as possible.
Step 1: Conversion of Old Reports
Since March 15th 2022, you have no longer been able to create new reports of the deprecated types. At the same time, all existing reports of the three deprecated “Allocations”, Projects” and “Capacities” types have been converted to the current “Projects, Allocations and Capacities” type.
- The converted reports of the deprecated “Allocations” type are identical to the old reports. The old reports were immediately removed.
- Two fields (created by and data source) are no longer in the converted reports of the deprecated “Projects” types. The old reports were immediately removed.
- The converted reports of the deprecated “Capacities” type differ from the old reports in a few minor points (see details below). The deprecated reports remained until April 12th, 2022.
Step 2: Removal of Remaining Old Reports
On April 12th, 2022, the remaining pivot reports of the deprecated “Capacities” type were removed in all systems.
What Do I Have To Do
Due to technical reasons, there are a few differences between the converted reports and the outdated reports of the deprecated “Capacities” type:
1. Capacity Fields
Field Name in Capacity Report |
Field Name in Current Report |
Field Calculation |
"Remaining Capacity" |
- Does not exist - |
if the capacity of a role/resource exceeds the allocation, then the field displays the value for "capacity minus allocation"; otherwise the value is zero |
"Net Capacity" |
"Remaining Capacity" |
Capacity minus allocation; for roles, the allocation includes unstaffed allocations. |
2. Display of Role Capacity
In deprecated reports of the “Capacities” type, the role displayed only its own role capacity under the heading “Capacity”. In reports of the newer “Project, Allocations and Capacities” type, the role displays the capacity of all resources with this role as primary role in addition to its own capacity:
3. Non-Portfolio Roles and Resources
Deprecated reports displayed the capacity of non-portfolio roles and resources. Current reports of the newer “Project, Allocations and Capacities” type do not display the capacity of non-portfolio roles and resources.
4. Cost Fields
In the deprecated reports, the field chooser offered fields such as “allocation cost” and “capacity cost”. Reports of the newer type do not have these fields. Instead, you can select the unit for the display in the toolbar under Allocation Unit and choose between FTE, days, hours, percent and currency.
5. Display of Zero Allocation
Deprecated reports hid rows when the values for allocation and capacity were 0.0. Current reports of the newer type only hide rows when the allocation value is 0.0 and the Capacity field is not configured in the Field Chooser. As soon as the capacity field is configured, the row will always be displayed, even if the values for allocation and capacity are 0.0.
Please compare the converted reports to the old reports and make necessary adjustments. If you have questions, please contact us at support@meisterplan.com.
