How the Team Planner Can Help You
The new Team Planner in Meisterplan gives resource managers or team leads a dedicated view they can use to see their teams and their allocations. With the initial beta version, you will also be able to see the capacity of your roles and resources. As the Team Planner is further developed you will be able to edit existing allocations directly in this dedicated view. With the Team Planner, Meisterplan better enables you in building teams composed of the right people with available capacity, which is key to productivity within your organization.
How to Participate in the Beta
The Team Planner has started as a Closed Beta. This is an early version which is being continuously improved and only available on request. The latest updates to the view may not yet be listed here. When requested, the Team Planner beta will be activated per system, not per user. The use of the Team Planner is subject to these terms.
If you are interested in testing this feature, please send a support ticket from within Meisterplan: In the left Sidebar, select Help, click Contact Support and mention the Team Planner in the ticket subject. This ensures we activate the Team Planner in the right system. The beta version will not affect any other functionalities in Meisterplan.
If you have questions about or feedback on the current Beta version, please contact us as described above.
How the Team Planner Works
How to Find
In the left Sidebar, click Team Planner to open the view. In the list on the left side of the view, roles and resources are listed alphabetically. The timeline in the center displays the capacity of roles and resources for the selected zoom level. Overallocations are displayed in red, underallocations in blue and optimal allocations in green.
With the Edit Resource Pool and Absences right, you can open a role's or resource's detail view by moving your cursor over their name and clicking the square icon.
To see a role's or resource's individual project allocations, expand their line by clicking the arrow after their name. The allocation bars are arranged to best fit the available space while ensuring allocations from the same project are grouped together. To open the corresponding project details, move your cursor over the allocation bar and click the square icon. You can only open a project that is part of the current portfolio.
How to Configure the View
To change the over- and underallocation thresholds, click Configure View:
In this dialog, you can also change the allocation unit and the color scheme for displaying projects.
Control which resources are displayed in the Team Planner by selecting the Date Range, Portfolio or Scenario in the black header bar at the top of your screen.
Select the date range to ensure that only resources with a start or termination date within that date range are displayed.
By selecting a portfolio with a resource filter (OBS, skills, primary role, external/internal), you can display only the roles and resources that are relevant to your current task.
The project filter of the selected portfolio does not define which resources or projects are displayed, but limits access to the project details. Only projects that are within the project filter (e.g., OBS, Project Manager, Status) can be opened.
Future Development of the Team Planner
We are continuously improving the Team Planner. With the next iteration of the view, resource managers and team leads will be able to edit existing allocations directly in the Team Planner to quickly resolve any problems they may have identified.
