General Information and Privacy

In order to protect your Jira data, every Meisterplan user must authorize access to Jira data and log in to his Jira account. Only the data accessible to the logged in Jira user account will be displayed in Meisterplan. Only read-only access is granted, Meisterplan users can never change Jira data.

When accessing Jira Cloud instances, the user logs in to his Atlassian ID account via the OAuth protocol. When accessing Jira server instances, the user logs in using his Jira username and password.

Atlassian ID login takes place in a browser window provided by Atlassian, so you Meisterplan has no access to your credentials in this case.

When logging in to Jira server instances, your credentials will only be stored on your device, never on the Meisterplan server. Storage on your device is encrypted. As soon as you log out of your Jira account, your credentials will be deleted from your device.

While working with Meisterplan, users can log out of Jira, so that Jira data is not visible anymore for the respective Meisterplan projects. Additionally, authorization for accessing Jira cloud instances can be revoked at any time through the Atlassian account management interface.

Accessing Jira Cloud Data

When first accessing a Jira Cloud instance, you are prompted to provide authorization. Proceed as follows:

Step 1: Click on Connect to Jira, as shown in the following screenshot:

This opens a new window, which goes through the approval process at Atlassian.

Step 2: If required, log in with your Atlassian ID. This step is only necessary if you are not already logged in to your Atlassian account in this browser.

Step 3: Authorize access by selecting the desired instance under Authorize for, and confirm by clicking Accept:

Accessing Jira Server or Jira Data Center Data

When first accessing a Jira Server or Jira Data Center instance, you are prompted to authorize access. To do so, enter your Jira username and password for this instance, and then click Log In:

You can also log into Jira using a Personal Access Token. To do so, enter the Personal Access Token (PAT) into the password field, and leave the username blank.

Please note the requirements for connecting Meisterplan and Jira Server/Jira Data Center.

Tip: If using a Meisterplan Software as a Service (SaaS) system, it is sufficient for your network administrator to only allow access to the static IP addresses used by Meisterplan for communication. You can find more information in the FAQ Connect to Meisterplan via static IP.

Log out from Jira

When you log out from Jira, you lock access to Jira data for those Meisterplan projects that have been linked using the active Jira account.

To log out from Jira, proceed as follows:

Step 1: If the right sidebar is closed, open it by clicking the Jira icon in the right sidebar:

Step 2: In the right sidebar, click More Actions and then select Jira Account Details:

Step 3: In the new dialog, click Log Out from Jira:

Revoking Access to Jira Cloud

To revoke any access to Jira that has already granted, open the Jira user account management page, switch to the Connected Apps tab and click Revoke Access.

To log in to Jira with another user, first log out as described in the Log Out from Jira section.

To then log in with another Jira Cloud account, first open the Atlassian account management page in another browser tab and log out there. Then log in either in the Atlassian tab or in Meisterplan (see below).

To log in with another Jira Server account, click Log In to Jira in the right sidebar:
