If you want to recover the Meisterplan sample data that came with your trial, you can reimport the dataset in just a few steps.
Step 1: Download our Sample Data Spreadsheet
There are two sample datasets for Meisterplan, one with English and one with German sample data. To successfully import the sample data set, the dataset must be the same language as the deleted sample data. The dataset language does not need to be identical with the language of the Meisterplan interface.
1. You can find out the correct language for your system by logging in to Meisterplan and checking the role names: "Consultant" (EN) or "Berater" (DE).
2. Download the Excel file with the right language:
Only Plan of Record
You can only restore the Plan of Record data with this Excel file, scenarios remain empty.
Step 2: Import the Spreadsheet into Meisterplan
Click Import and Export in the Portfolio Designer and then select Import from Excel.
In the new window, click the folder icon and locate the downloaded file. Usually, Windows saves it in the Downloads folder.
If you already brought your own data into Meisterplan and you want to keep it on top of the recovered sample data, select Keep and update before clicking Import.
If you want to start from scratch with only the sample data, select Delete and replace before clicking Import. Note: This will delete all existing data in the database and replace it with the sample data.
The import will then be processed, which usually takes a few seconds.
Before importing data, you might want to save a backup of your current Meisterplan database. You can do so by clicking Import and Export in the Portfolio Designer and then select Export to Excel.
To get the Sample Data out of the Meisterplan system at a later date, delete the data manually. Find information in article Manually Delete Sample Data.
Best Practice Hints:
- We recommend exporting your current Meisterplan database before every import you might perform in the future. With this export, you can also export individual scenarios. You can import that backup anytime in the same way as described above.
- In rare cases, the import can fail for several reasons. In that case, Meisterplan will display an error message and not perform the import, i.e. your current data will not be changed. The error message will contain detailed information on the error (e.g. a logical data error: the start date and finish date of a project were mixed up, etc.).
