Now that you’re set up to start planning, the most important success factor is still missing: Your colleagues!
To maintain efficient and effective portfolio management for everyone involved, you can design the user rights to fit your specific process.
Where to Find:
Click on Users in the side bar menu to Add new users or Edit existing ones.
How to Configure:
In the General tab, you fill in the basic user data and choose an Access Level.
Before you start digging into the details: 95% of your colleagues will only require the User level. This level allows users to perform all actions checked in the Rights tab, but will not allow them to change the tool configuration, change user setups, import or export data.
In the Rights tab, you define the specific user rights.
This example above shows a typical setup for a project manager – but your preferred setup might be different.
When your colleagues log in with their account, they will only see and be able to do what you defined as relevant for them.
This example shows a reduced sidebar menu and a project list showing only the projects being managed by the user.
Best Practice Hints:
- It’s helpful to plan your user’s dos and don’ts in detail before setting them up in Meisterplan.
- Be conservative with your user’s rights at first. Then discuss in your Lessons Learned Meeting where you need to sharpen them. It’s easier to give additional rights later than to reduce them.
