To enter absences you need the Edit Resource Pool and Absences right.
Entering Resource Absences, Vacations and Capacity Changes in the Resource Pool
Please note that you can also view, edit, add and delete resource absences, vacations and capacity changes in the Absences tab of the detail view for a resource in the resource pool:
See the Absences, Vacations and Capacity Changes section in the Managing Resources article for details about this.
Entering Resource Absences, Vacations and Capacity Changes in the Portfolio Designer
While working in the plan of record, you can switch to the Change Resource Absences mode by clicking the pen icon in a resource's row header.
This mode lets you view and edit absences, vacations and capacity changes directly in the resource section of the Portfolio Designer view:
- Create absence, vacation or capacity segments by clicking on the desired splitting points in the Change Resource Absences row.
- Click a segment to enter a value.
- Enter capacity changes as a percentage of the resource's original capacity defined in its calendar and calendar exceptions.
The effect of a resource capacity change depends on the resource's original capacity:
- Setting the capacity of a resource with a 40 hour calendar to 50% will result in a 20 hour capacity.
- Setting the capacity of a resource with a 20 hour calendar to 50% will result in a 10 hour capacity.
Resource Absences, Vacations and Capacity Changes in Scenarios
Other than the capacity of a role, the capacity of a resource cannot be specified per scenario but only in the plan of record and belongs to the global data whose change will also affect all scenarios.
Deleting Resource Absences, Vacations and Capacity Changes
You can delete absences, vacations and capacity changes in the Absences tab of a resource's detail view in the resource pool.
Alternatively, you can delete absence and capacity segments in the Change Resource Absences mode of the histogram by moving either slider across the segment you wish to delete, until it touches the opposite slider.
