How can I set up a part-time resource?
The basic capacity of a resource (full-time, part-time, 75%,...) is determined by calendars via the Resource Pool. To have a part-time resource, just add a calendar with e.g. 4 work hours per day and connect the resource to that calendar.
Some employees can't use their full capacity for projects. How can I best handle this in Meisterplan?
There are two recommended options:
1) If capacity is stable, use a part-time calendar with a capacity of e.g. 90%.
2) If capacity changes frequently, define temporary capacity changes in the resource view.
Alternatively, you can create a "business as usual" project and allocate these resources to that project. However, this project will then also be included in reports etc.
Can a resource have multiple roles?
Globally, resources in Meisterplan have only one role, the primary role. It will be used whenever you add a resource to a project. However, for individual projects, you can specify additional roles for a resource. To do this, first change the role of the resource already assigned to the project (Right-click and then "Change Role"), and then add the same resource again. Repeat these steps to assign even more roles. Note that allocations in the Resource View are aggregated for the primary role.
I'm not sure if I should add something as an OBS unit, role, or skill, e.g. "Java developer". What's best practice here?
One consideration here is that when adding resources to a project, you can filter your resources by, among other things, role and skill, but not by OBS unit. So if you want to filter for e.g. "Java developer" when searching for resources, it's best to add it as a skill or role.
I have created several teams as part of my OBS structure, but in the Resource Pool I can't connect any resources or roles to these teams. Why?
Resources and roles can only be connected to OBS sub-units. Create teams below the top level to be able to connect resources or roles. For example having a top level OBS unit "Teams" with sub-units like "Team A", Team B".
How can I best schedule something like a vacation for all employees, e.g. for when I want to close the office for two weeks?
Assuming you don't want to just add individual absences for every affected resource in the resource pool, you can best achieve this by adding an exception to the affected resource's calendars.
