Learn how to create new roles, edit existing roles or delete roles in Meisterplan.
Overview
Roles are typically a job title or responsibility used to describe how people will contribute to projects.
Roles are managed in the Resource Pool. Click on Resource Pool in the toolbar on the top right of the screen to open it:
The Resource Pool then opens in a new dialog:
Select Roles in the left column. The middle column will then show all roles created in the current Meisterplan system. Click on a role to see additional information on it in the right column:
- Name
- Cost per hour: For allocation cost calculation; if a resource has no cost per hour, the cost per hour of the resource's primary role is used for allocation cost calculation.
- Cost Type: Operational Expenditure "OpEx" or Capital Expenditure "CapEx".
- OBS: Each role can be linked to any number of OBS sub-units.

To add a new role, proceed as follows:
Step 1: Click on the plus symbol in the middle column of the Resource Pool:
Step 2: Enter the properties of the new role in the right column.
Step 3: Click Apply on the top of the right column.

Search for a Role
: Click on the magnifying glass icon above the list of roles.
A search field will appear above the list of roles. Enter a part of the role name you are searching for in order to filter the list.
Close Search: Click on the X above the list to close the search box and reset the list to show all entries again.
Delete a Role
Please note that after deleting a role, direct allocations for this role are no longer displayed in the Plan of Record or in a scenario. This also includes previous allocations. Resources with the deleted role as their primary role will lose their primary role. Resource allocations which had the deleted role as their primary role and project role will lose their project role. Resource allocations which had the deleted role as their project role but not as their primary role will be assigned their original primary role.
