Custom Allocation Rights for Project and Resource ManagersAll Editions
With our new update to user rights, you can ensure that resource managers have exclusive access to editing their teams' allocations. The new update will give you the option to restrict project manager's rights to only be able to allocate on the role level. You will also have the option to allow all resource managers to edit any of their resources' allocations whether they are the project manager or not, regardless of the portfolio they are in.
With the introduction of these rights, you can more easily build a two-level process of staffing your projects.
To adjust your resource managers' rights so that they can always edit the allocations of their roles and resources, select Resource Managers Can Always Edit Allocations of Their Own Roles and Resources under Manage > User Groups > Project and Program Rights.
To restrict project managers' abilities to allocate on the role level, select the option Role Allocations under Manage > User Groups > Detailed Project and Program Rights > Edit Allocations.
Changes Requiring Your Attention
The editing of resource allocations will no longer be determined by the resource or project filters of the selected portfolio. This allows users to edit all resource allocations of their projects, regardless of the portfolio.
If you do not want your project managers to have the ability to edit resource allocations, including those of non-portfolio resources, you must adjust the user groups of your project managers so that they can only allocate on the role level.
